CBC could be described as an evangelical, doctrinally conservative church. Collierville Bible Church is an independent congregation - it is not part of a larger organization nor a representative of a particular denomination. "Evangelical" is a word that describes lots of different kinds of churches who have this in common: They proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ and believe it is essential to do so.
To say that CBC is doctrinally conservative means that we're not interested in innovation, novelty, or creativity when it comes to interpreting the Bible. We strive to be faithful to the timeless truths taught in God's word.
God challenges us in the Bible: Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful (Hebrews 10:23). A church ought to be defined by the fact that there are certain truths she confesses. She stands for something. The Statement of Faith at CBC tells you about what we consider the core truths of the Bible. Folks from the lone star state say, "Don't mess with Texas." CBC'ers say, "Dont mess with the Statement of Faith." These are the truths we are willing to defend with our lives.
The Statement of Faith is not the same as the Doctrinal Distinctives.
