The Bible is over a thousand pages of very dense text. The CBC Statement of Faith is a one pager. Anybody here see something of an imbalance? Obviously the Bible has a lot more to say than just what is captured in the CBC Statement of Faith. And here's what shouldn't surprise anyone: Not everybody agrees about everything the Bible says in all these pages.
At CBC, we recognize that sincere and careful students of the Bible arrive at differing views about some of the things that the Bible teaches. So, we ought to be humble enough to admit something. WE DON'T HAVE ALL THE ANSWERS! We have answers, answers to the most important questions a man can ask. However, there are some mysteries in the Bible, and we acknowledge this without hesitation.
But we also want to be up front with you about what we call the Doctrinal Distinctives of Collierville Bible Church. Some issues, like women's role in the church, the ministry of the Holy Spirit, or church organization and leadership, are important and the Bible has a LOT to say about them. So after careful study, we have drawn some conclusions. The Doctrinal Distinctives of Collierville Bible Church represent the teaching position of the church and tell you a lot about what makes CBC different from other churches.
These are "distinctives," understandings that distinguish us from other followers of Jesus, but that don't divide us. We work together with folks who have a different take than us, but we also have a settled view that it would be helpful for you to know about.
