Baptism scheduled
We are planning a Baptism Service for Sunday, February 5. Water baptism does not save, but is the biblical means by which one publicly professes his reliance upon Jesus for salvation. We encourage all who have come to saving faith in Jesus and who want to publicly declare it to be baptized. Interested? Contact the church office (854-2500) to speak with Pastor Jim to explore the possibility. If you have children who have come to Christ and desire to be baptized, set up a meeting with Pastor Jim (call the church office) at which you and your child can talk with him about what it means to be baptized.
new First Thing elective
Coming in February - Godonomics - What the Almighty says about the almighty dollar. The Bible tells us everything we NEED to know about how markets work best, what money can (and can’t) do, and how governments should relate to the marketplace. If you are tired of all the hand-wringing television com- mentary and want a breath of biblical fresh air on the subject, this is your chance.
This will be a Spring Elective in First Thing and will meet for its first session on Sunday, Feb 12 at 9:00am. The core teaching will come from video lectures given by Chad Hovind / Class discussions will be moderated by Jim Fleming. Jim will also be providing some special supplementary materials not covered in the videos. Because space will be limited, please pre-register for the class by contacting the church office either by phone (854-2500) or email (cbcoffice@aol.com).

Reynosa mission trip update
Several people have inquired about the missions trip to Reynosa, Mexico. Our emphasis will be different than previous years. Whereas in the past, we have done “mission type work” repairing and building around the campus, this year we will be assisting with an evangelistic day camp for the children in the neighborhood. In the evenings we will minister to and play with the Rio Bravo children. We look forward to participating in God's overall plan for reaching the world for Christ. The dates for the camp will be July 23 - 27. An exact departure date has not yet been determined. As always, we will continue to try and keep the cost as low as possible. (In the past, the trip has cost between $400 and $500.) Look for an upcoming informational meeting sometime in February.
If Jesus asked you, “What do you want me to do for you,” what would you say? You certainly wouldn’t waste your request on something frivolous or inconsequential. You’d ask for something that really matters. So don’t just speculate, write it down. Summarize your request on a 4” x 6” card. Put your name on it, date it, and outline what you would like Jesus to do for you in the next year. Then drop your card in the offering chest. Pastor Jim will use your card to guide him in his prayer for you for the next year.
As AWANA begins another year, please remember to invite your friends and neighbors as the primary purpose is to carry out the AWANA mission which is:
“To reach boys and girls with the gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him.”
